Если посмотреть на историю постановок, то их очень часто берут режиссёры, потому что они годятся для театра, многие из них построены на диалоге, по сути они представляют из себя маленькие пьесы. Не было желания взять именно то, что никогда не было в работе, но мы посмотрели на эти история немножко под другим углом в смысле кастинга. Тех, кто знает эти рассказы, удивит распределение ролей, и это один из наших сюрпризов.
Почему именно этот цикл рассказов взяли в работу?
Когда я посмотрел на труппу, мне показалось, что им бы очень подошла эта фактура: с одной стороны лёгкости, с другой — какого-то драматизма. Потому что здесь, в труппе Нового Театра Сочи, разные сочетания людей, с разным опытом, с разным театральным бэкграундом, разного возраста, и как раз Бунин даёт всю эту палитру соединения людей в какие-то возможные сочетания. Как раз богатство палитры сборника этих рассказов меня и подкупило, и я понял, что сборник совпадёт с особенностями труппы этого театра.
В «Тёмных аллеях» Бунин показывал людей, которым предстоит пережить все катастрофы ХХ века, с их разрушениями и потрясениями. Сегодня люди как раз находятся в стадии переживания подобных событий. Как вы на это взглянули?
Когда мы начинали репетировать летом; понятно, что ситуация была одна, сейчас она другая. К тому моменту когда этот спектакль, дай Бог, выйдет и пройдёт несколько месяцев, ситуация может стать ещё какая-то третья. Так что-то, то как этот материал будет резонировать с каждым конкретным днём мы даже не знаем. Потому что с момента замысла до момента воплощения очень сильно поменялась обстановка вокруг, Нельзя, конечно, сказать, что это не имеет значения. В этом есть намеренный контраст, можно даже сказать, и конфликт.

Мне кажется, ставить нигде не легче, если ты сам к этому относишься с определённой степенью ответственности. Везде есть какие-то свои сложности, тут, конечно, мы имеем дело с югом, с определённым менталитетом как смотрящих, так и репетирующих. Некий такой расслабон внутренний он присутствует, и ты, конечно, делаешь скидку на то, как это будет восприниматься.

Я в каком-то смысле человек путешествующий. Потому что я родился в казахской деревне, потом жил в небольшом городе, затем в Челябинске, потом в Москве, и как-то так, шаг за шагом, из ниоткуда складывалась любовь к театру. Хотя моя семья совершенно не театральная и ничего не предвещало, но как-то вдруг я понял, что мне интересен театр. Через любительские студии, через попытки поступать, через провалы, через возвращение к необходимости учиться режиссуре, я шаг за шагом к этому пришёл. Это одна из вещей, которую я бы мог о себе сказать. Вторая — это что мне интересно сочетание в театре фантастического реализма. Мне интересны те пространства, в которых стыкуются что-то достаточно достоверное и то, чего не может быть. Для меня в этом и есть театр. Я не какой-то документалист и не какой-то совсем отшибленный фантаст или абсолютист. Мне всегда интересно найти стык. Жизнь, мне кажется, очень часто даёт тебе возможность увидеть, что всё живёт в таком тандеме, и мне всегда интересно находить какие-то парадоксы и переносить их в театр.
